Analytical Representation of the Longitudinal Hadronic Shower Development
نویسنده
چکیده
The analytical representation of the longitudinal hadronic shower development from the face of a calorimeter is presented and compared with experimental data. The suggested formula is particularly useful at designing, testing and calibration of huge calorimeter complex like in ATLAS at LHC. One of the important questions of hadron calorimetry is the question of the longitudinal development of hadronic showers [1]. For analysing of energy depositions in various depths of calorimeters it is necessary to have the analytical representation of longitudinal shower development from the face of calorimeter. Such formula is particularly useful at designing, testing and calibration of huge calorimeter complex like in ATLAS [2] at LHC. There is well known parameterisation of longitudinal shower development from shower origin suggested by Bock et al. [3]: dEs(x) dx = k { w ( x Xo )a−1 e x Xo + (1− w) ( x λI )a−1 e −d x λI }

Hadronic Shower Development in Tile Iron-scintillator Calorimetry
The lateral and longitudinal profiles of hadronic showers detected by a prototype of the ATLAS Iron-Scintillator Tile Hadron Calorimeter have been investigated. This calorimeter uses a unique longitudinal configuration of scintillator tiles. Using a fine-grained pion beam scan at 100 GeV, a detailed picture of transverse shower behavior is obtained. The underlying radial energy densities for fo...

The extension of the longitudinal hadronic shower profile parameterization which takes into account non-compensations of calorimeters and the algorithm of the longitudinal hadronic shower profile curve making for a combined calorimeter are suggested. The proposed algorithms can be used for data analysis from modern combined calorimeters like in the ATLAS detector at the LHC.
متن کاملComparison of simulated longitudinal profiles of hadronic air showers with MASS2 balloon data
The KASKADE and CORSIKA air shower generators are compared to the data collected by MASS2 balloon experiment in 1991. The test of longitudinal profile for proton, helium and muon flux production provide good constraints on these air shower generators. KASKADE and CORSIKA especially with the new simulator UrQMD for low energies are found to fit these data well. This study is limited to a compari...
متن کاملHadronic interactions and extensive air showers
Understanding hadronic multiparticle production is important for deriving the composition and energy spectrum of primary cosmic rays from air shower measurements at high energy. In this article, predictions of hadronic interaction models are discussed, emphasizing uncertainties and constraints due to model assumptions and accelerator measurements. The sensitivity of shower observables to model ...
متن کامل30TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE Test of hadronic interaction models with data from the Pierre Auger Observatory
The Pierre Auger Observatory allows the measurement of both longitudinal profiles and lateral particle distributions of high-energy showers. The former trace the overall shower development, mainly of the electromagnetic component close to the core where the latter reflect the particle densities in the tail of the shower far away from the core and are sensitive to both the muonic and electromagn...
